Board Member: Terry Irwin - Biography and Photos.
Terry Irwin was appointed to his seat on the St. Clare Board of Directors in October 2006, filling the vacancy left by departing member Heidi Krouzian. His seat will up for re-election in January 2008.
Terry and his family are on their second "tour of duty" in California. Although Terry was born in Chicago, he moved to the San Fernando Valley when he was six years old. He and his five brothers and sisters were raised in the Valley, which is why he considers himself a native Californian. He is a graduate of Granada Hill High School and received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from California State University, Northridge.
Terry met his wife Mindy while both were working part time at the Northridge K-Mart. They were married in May 1980 and have three kids. As of this writing, their oldest son Dennis is in the US Navy, stationed in Bremerton WA. Dennis and his wife Amie are expecting their first child in December 2007, marking a new phase in Terry's & Mindy's lives - being grandparents. A second son Matthew attends College of the Canyons and their daughter will graduate from Saugus High in June 2007. Mindy herself is a student, enrolled in a teaching credential program at CSU Bakersfield, attending the COC campus. Graduation for Mindy will be December 2008.
While working for Lockheed Martin in the early 1990s, Terry accepted a job transfer to their Marietta Georgia plant, just on the outskirts of Atlanta. He and his family lived in the south for twelve years, after which Terry returned to California to accept a job at Lockheed's Palmdale plant, where he works to this day. It was after a tiring, two week hunt for housing in December 2002 (and lucky timing) that Terry, Mindy and their real estate agent stumbled onto St. Clare, where they were able to buy into phase 2 on Stansfield Lane.
While living in Georgia, Terry was active in his HOA ("the Enclaves of Kennesaw") as secretary, president and member of the architectural control committee. It was this experience, in part, that motivated him to seek a seat on the St. Clare HOA board.
Terry's interests include fly fishing and music. He plays bass guitar with the 7:30 AM choir at Blessed Kateri Catholic Church on Copperhill. He is also teaching himself to play the mandolin. He and Mindy like to indulge in an occasional (okay, frequent) glass of wine. In fact, they have ACC approved plans to plant a mini-vineyard on the slope behind their house.
Terry and Mindy are also avid walkers — in your travels, you may see them and their black lab "Jack" walking up and down Heller and Plum. |
